What Does A Slimy Feeling On Roof Of Mouth Indicate?

I ve had a slimy feeling on the roof of my mouth for several days. Kind of feels like a coating of oil or fat. Brushing tongue and roof of mouth doesn t change the sensation. One day prior, I felt like the roof of my mouth and gums were scratched by a French roll I ate. Any ideas what this is?
