Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter had previously been diagnosed with carpletunnel. We moved and now saw a different Dr because she is now in great pain. Apparently the previous Dr didn t do some testing that could conferm the diagnosis. The new Dr ordered an xray and a nerve conduction test. Today I received a call informing me they fouND a soft spot on her left hand & needed another xray in 3m. Extremely vague ! I asked questions that the receptionist was unable to answer. Now I have to wait until next Friday to talk to the Dr. Now the q... Should I be worried? What is a soft spot on a bone?
As the previous diagnosis was carpal tunnel syndrome we need to take an MRI and Nerve conduction test to understand the pathology involved. During carpal tunnel compression there is any pain in the hands due to compression of the nerve under Neath the flexor retinaculum. Doing therapeutic ultrasound therapy and TENS therapy helps to reduce the symptoms and reduce the inflammation of the flexor retinaculum. Low-intensity strengthening exercises should be looked for regaining the functions back.
I will advise that you take up an MRI and nerve conduction test post which a physiotherapist should be able to help you.
Regarding the soft spot on a bone, we need to see in an x-ray but MRI will be more good to understand if any bony growth is there. Usually, this isn't the case some calcium deposits can be removed by exercising in the right way.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
