Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Red and tender bump under the skin of a nose is suggestive of
cystic acne. cystic acne develops when your skin pores get clogged with a dead skin. It usually gets inflamed which becomes red and tender. The most common cause is
hormonal change in the body. Certain type of bacteria play a role to cause inflammation. Cystic acne may take several weeks to heal.
Treatment includes local topical creams and life style modifications. Never squeeze or pick the acne. Do not touch too much. You may worsen the inflammation.
Keep clean the skin of the area and locally apply
tretinoin and
benzoyl peroxide alternating each day (one day use of each). Apply two times a day (if there is rash or itchiness stop using it). Avoid direct sunlight to the area when using tretinoin, it may cause
photosensitivity.
You may also use 5-10 minutes of warm compresses locally to reduce the inflammation.
Furthermore, try to reduce
stress level , get adequate sleep and do regular exercises.
If the acne enlarges, becomes red and very painful, swollen or you develop fever you should visit
dermatologist.
Hope, this information is helpful for you. Please, feel free to ask me if there is anything else you need to know.
Thank you,
