What Does A Sore Spot On The Arm Indicate?

I worked in the yard yesterday and noticed a sore area on my arm last night. This afternoon I realized the area is enlarged and has a pus-filled zit type thing in the center. I did not have any pain or awareness of a bite of any kind yesterday. It doesn t hurt now but is a little warm and swollen. The pictures look a little like a fire ant bite but I don t think there are any fire ants where I was working. Is this something I should do something about today? I have heard scary stories about bites getting infected with lots of problems.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

i can understand your concern. the sore has developed into an abscess and inflammation. This would require an incision and drainage of the pus. After this appropriate antibiotic has to be taken for a duration of seven days. Along with this i would advise you to get a tetanus shot.
Do not try to puncture the sore yourself. Kindly consult a doctor. This is a minor out patient procedure. if you have high fever, or feel dizzy kindly contact the emergency room immediately without delay.

Hope this helps. wishing you a speedy recovery
