What Does A Spot In Lungs On A Chest X-ray Indicate?

My family doctor did an xray on my chest about a month ago and found a spot on my lung. Dr. had me get a CT scan for precautions. Got back the results and she mentioned to me that I have a 3 millimeter Nodule in the left upper lobe. I asked the doctor if I needed to see a Pulmonary specialist, but she mentioned to me that there was no need. I have been a nervous wreck and finally made the decision to go see a Pulmonary Specialist to get a second opinion and for my peace of mind. Has anyone else been diagnose with these condition? Please help and give me some guidance. Im a nervous wreck when I read up on these condition and read the word CANCER. You help is greatly appreciated ASAP!

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The report suggest there is a solitary pulmonary nodule of 3 mm, the pulmonary nodule above 3 mm need to be monitored.
2.As possibilities to get in to malignancy are there - in this case you need to get a course of antibiotic and get a followup scan done.
3.If the lesion resolves or reduces in size, well and good. But if there is any increase - needs further evaluation.
4.Next time when you get the scan, a contrast enhanced scan will be useful to pick more characters.
5.In this case at this point malignancy / cancer can not be ruled out - need to followup in further scans.

Good luck.
Hope i have answered your query,
