Hi, thank you for trusting Healthcare Magic.
FYI, the lymph nodes is gland which is the component of the immune system, which serves as the headquarters of white blood cells. White blood cells constantly circling the body to search for and eradicate germs / viruses that successfully enter (infection). If there is infection, the gland may dilate as a resistance response. Each lymph node has its own area of responsibility. That is,
swollen lymph nodes in the neck may be caused by infection in the
respiratory tract, ears, eyes or oral cavity. Infection is often associated with
fever, because during infection, the immune system releases certain chemicals that make the body temperature rise more than usual. To find out the type of infection that causes your grand son, it needs a direct examination by the doctor. A
blood test may be necessary to support the diagnosis. Once the cause is clear, then appropriate treatment can follow.
The following health tips may help:
1. Avoid touching/ massaging lumps; it makes a bigger bump
Lumps due to swollen lymph nodes are expected to shrink within 3 weeks as easing of infectious infections; if it does not go small, consult the doctor - it may be necessary to have a
biopsy examination (small tissue sampling surgery) to support the diagnosis.
Take care,
dr. Nurul
