What Does A Swollen Lymph Node Under The Armpit Indicate?

Hi , I have a swollen lymph node under the armpit. It s been there for past few months with no pain or redness , and there have been other lymph node swellings on and off around the arm area and in the groin which have been painful at times . Do I need to be concerned ? I have also been having severe back pain , severe fatigue , nerve tingling , stomach upsets and general malaise past few months . I was suggested to get a needle aspiration test done . Is that enough to determine the cause ? Is a proper biopsy and removal of the node needed ? Thanks .

Hi,

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern.

As per your history of lymphadenopathy you need to check if there are any injuries or multiple pastules in hand arm or shoulder region. If these things happen there the cause is because of it.

If your lymph nodes are hard fixed and painless, these can be the cause of concern. These nodes can be because of malignant conditions too.

So you need to get an FNAC done as early as possible. If the pathologist finds any sort of reactive tissue than for confirmation an excisional biopsy may also be needed.

You don't need to be panicky as most of the lymphadenopathy is infectious but take the proper procedure to rule out any sort of dangerous condition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
