Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I think i have thrush on my gums. it is a white patch. Do i need to see a doctor on Tuesday or can i wait until my dentist appt which is this Thursday?
1. healthy gums are usually pink, while white gums around teeth is usually due to gingivitis which can cause inflammation to the gum tissues which can lead to change in the color of the gums
2. Get an appointment with your Dental professional who will exclude other causes of white gum patches: like: irritation from rough teeth/filling/crowns, ill fitting dentures , thrush [ candidiasis], leukoplakia [people with weakened immune system because of illness/stress can also cause the same] and who will provide with healthy lifestyle choices [avoiding tobacco/smoking] and good oral health practices to keep your gums healthy.
