What Does A White Scab On The Lips Indicate?

I had chapped lips that seemed to heal except for one white area, almost like a scab, on my lower lip that just won t go away. I keep trying to leave it alone and let it heal, but it s hard not to run my tongue over it or bite at it. Any ideas what it is?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Vitamin B deficiency often causes chapped lips. Take vitamin B rich food or supplements Keep your lips moisturized, do not touch or pick your lips. It should go away in a few days.

However, if it does not go & if you are sexually active, you are suggested to visit ER, get clinically examined. Get STD tests done to detect cold sores & herpes simplex. Get treated at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
