What Does Abdominal Pain On The Right Side Indicate?

I was recently rushed to the hospital on Sunday after i had a sudden pain develop in my right side that only got worse as the minutes went on. It wasnt appendicitis since i had that earlier in the year. The pain subsided after being put on pain meds in the hospital. I got a cat scan and they said that i had lots of stool clogging up my colon. I took laxatives but they didnt help, and now two days later im still having a sharp pain in my side. Whats going on?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello.
this condition is suggestive of few conditions like fecolith that is when the feces are harder in consistency and they're obstructing the bowel. secondly it could be ischaemic colitis as the stools put pressure on the bowel, it results in pain like this.
this has to be kept under observation. initially, laxatives are preferred but if it doesn't work, the hardened stools are removed surgically.

best regards,
Dr Gunjan
