Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband who as been in the Army for 28 years now had an MRI that shows Bone Marrow in his back, abnormally. We are waiting on CT results. He has lower back pain, neck pain, and possible herniated discs. Any ideas of why the bone marrow was present on the MRI?
1. abnormal bone marrow means there is either a benign or malignant condition resulting in marrow proliferation and most common is metastasis from solid organ tumors.
2. abnormal signal can be normal related to replacement of small amount of fat cells normally found in red marrow such that T1 signal will decrease.
3. Your Radiologist and physician are most likely to discuss the possibilites and then management can be discussed.
