What Does Acute Pneumonic Infiltrates In My Below CT Scan Result Suggest?
I just had a chest CT Scan and was told the following: No evidence of pulmonary emboli.. Consolidation / atelectasis in the superior segment of the right lower right lobe, which could represent acute pneumonic infiltrates, they could also be subacute or chronic. Linear sandlike atelectasis and possible scarring in the left lower lobe, lingual and right middle lobe, which are likely chronic. I don t have pneumonia, so does that mean I have lung cancer?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The finding on X-ray chest is presence of scarring in left lower, lingual and right middle lobes of lung. scarring of lungs is due to fibrosis or deposition of fibrous tissue in ung parenchyma. Deposition of fibrous tissue is secondary to injury like infection or chronic inflammation. Tuberculosis is a very common cause of scarring and fibrosis. Pneumonia can also lead to atelectasis and scarring. However, the X-ray findings have to be correlated with clinical features and history. Whatever may be the cause but the X-ray finding do not indicate acute infection like pneumonia. You may consult your referring doctor for more details keeping in view your past history.
