Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was taken Losartan 50mg. Then I had a blood test and showed somethin wrong with the kidneys. I am to take another blood test . The problem Acute renal insufficiency. The Dr. gave the same prescription but 25mg of Losartan Potassium and another medication called Atenolol 25mg. what is Acute renal insufficiency? and is taking the Losartan 25mg. OK? what about Atenolol ?
Acute renal insufficiency means your kidneys are unable to filter out waste products from your body suddenly. Losartan is given to slow down kidney damage in patients with hypertension & DM. Atenolol is a beta blocker used to treat hypertension. You have not mentioned any past medical history here. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a Urologist / GP.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
