General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM,

I have gone through your question and I understand your concern. Pap smear can exhibit many types of abnormal cells and not all of them are cancerous or pre-cancerous.....there are few types which are different from the normal lining of cervix and they need to be further investigated so as to classify them.
As your PAP smear has abnormal cells, your consultant may perform colposcopy...a procedure to visualize cervix, vagina and vulva and may take a biopsy if any area appears suspicious.
Lets hope for the best till you get through all the investigations.

I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns.
Wishing you good health.
