What Does An Abscess On The Lower Abdomen Indicate?

Hello,
My husband had a hernia in his groin in 2009. about 4 years later, he had a hernia-like bulge appear in his lower abdomen. no symptoms - no pain, nothing. He thought it was related, and did not get it checked. it looks like an absess, from what I have seen. it is leaking pus and is now causing him some tenderness. can you help us? thanks! Cassy L.

Thanks for posting on HCM
The symptoms you describe suggest as infection probably an abscess since pus is draining.I will suggest you take him to the hospital for the spot to be explored and the pus drained.He will need a course of antibiotics and pain/antiinflammatory medications.This will be decided by the Doctor depending on the findings on examination.
