Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My last echocardiogram...it was determined my ejection fraction was 25% way below what it should be I think 50% or better. I am male 72 yrs. old & currently have a stent in LAD & RCA as well as a pacemaker/defibibalator. Scheduled for an echo on the 8th. I am living a normal, stress free life and always get positive feedback from my cardiologist. On the plus side I am at normal wt. & really feel ok participating in regular physical activity. So I guess my question is: How critical is the ejection fraction given that my activity is normal despite its low number? Forget it. didn t realize there was a price tag. will get my answers Wednesday. please do not follow up. have a nice day.
I have read through your question and understand your concern. A normal ejection fraction is 55 percent or above. An ejection fraction is the pumping capability of the heart. Though an ejection fraction of 25 percent is quite low, it is still possible to lead a normal life; provided you don't indulge in too much exertion and maintain a normal level of physical activity.
I hope that answers your query. If you have any further questions, please feel free to write to me.
Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
Take care
