Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
63 yo male. My Urine has been tea colored since last Wednesday morning when I vomited at 4am. After that my bowel movements were yellowish/green/ possibly greyish. (that is better now.) I am extremely itchy but have no rash. I went to my urologist who took a urine sample. no blood. He mentioned I look a little yellow in the eyes. He is doing blood work and urine testing now. He also told me my gall bladder is enlarged, but that might be because I had not had anything to eat except for a bowl of soup. He thinks might be Bilirubin. He has sent me to my primary MD. I am not sure what Bilirubin is or what the treatment is. Can someone help? What do you think of the symptoms? Thanks
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
These symptoms indicate common bile duct obstruction.4Treatment is aimed at correcting the underlying cause. The primary objective of medical or surgical treatment is to alleviate the blockage. Some of the treatment options include a cholecystectomy and an ERCP. A cholecystectomy is the removal of the gallbladder if there are gallstones. An ERCP may be sufficient to remove small stones from the common bile duct or to place a stent inside the duct to restore bile flow. This is often used in cases where obstruction is caused by a tumor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
