Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 28 Y/O female who has an enlarged rib bone on the R side, at about the 2nd intercostal area. Though the rib itself causes no pain, I do suffer some sternal pain if I lay a certain way too long. I am wondering if the rib should be cause for concern or not.
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service. I reviewed your query and here is advise. I think you should do a x-ray of chest and back. Many people have asymmetric ribs and this is not a matter of concern. Sometimes it shows deformations of vertebral column like scoliosis. Consult an orthopaedic doctor for it.
Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
