What Does An Enlarged Tonsil Indicate?

Hi. Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed my left tonsil has become large. I spoke with a doctor a week ago, and he said that he thinks it s an infection and to not worry about it. Today I looked at it again and saw it is still very large, but now has a white spot on it, almost like a pimple. I have health anxiety and fear the worst. I m concerned this is cancer and am not sure what to do next. I had a full blood count a week ago which came up all good. Do you have any idea wha the cause of this large tonsil and white spot could be?

Hello,

Yes, infection would be more shown by purulence which can be a white spot and inflamed. Cancer is shown more by being pale and bland and just large. But I'd have to see it to really say much.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
