What Does An Indentation In The Arm Suggest?
I woke up thinking my left arm had been bruised by something. After several weeks and now 2 months. It is a permanent indentation in my arm and it has a splotch of redness on the outside. It s like I lost muscle tissue or something in my upper arm. What is this?

Hello,
You referred to some indentation in your arm that has splotch of redness. The following are few causes I can think of:
1) Most commonly lipoatrophy due to steroid injections given at the upper arm intramuscularly either for allergies or any other disorders. If the injections were placed properly, the indentation would have been avoided. Such indentations also occur after giving intralesional injections for cystic acne on the upper arm.
Treatment of this indentation is as follows:
a) Fillers
b) Fat transfer
c) Most effective is injection of 5-9 ml of 0.9% saline 7-8 times every 2-4 weeks for 3 months. This is less expensive and best.
Now I shall mention other probable causes of indentation
1) Localized morphea
2) Hypopigmented mycosis fungoides
But your indentation will most probably be due to lipoatrophy. So just approach a surgeon and ask him to give saline injections over that indentation multiple times.
