Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has a lump just above his anus that is sore. It s not in anus but is right above it. Sometimes it burns or itches. It s hard to the touch. He thought it was his tail bone that hurt when he sat at first but now he feels the lump. It s been there about a week almost two. Any idea what it could be?
Possible sentinel tag (external hemorrhoid) or prolapsed internal hemorrhoid. Kindly follow basic guidelines as below:
- Take care to avoid constipation and hard stool with plenty of liquids, high fiber diet and bulk forming laxative if needed - Sitz bath (sitting in a tub filled with lukewarm water 3 times a day) - Local application of analgesic gel as xylocaine (5%), particularly after bowel movements and sitz bath - Avoid prolonged sitting on hard surfaces, long drives - Analgesic medications with anti histamine for itch relief
Consult your PCP for evaluation of diagnosis and final cure accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
