Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had this itchy redness rash on my neck for a few days. I thought it might be the adapalene I was taking but I haven t used it in at least a week now. I ve started using apple cider vinegar diluted as a toner for my face, but I don t put it on my neck. Could that be the culprit? I don t know what to put on it for relief, even Vaseline seems to make it itch.
It seems like allergic contact dermatitis causing allergic reaction and itching. This can be most probably due to allergic reaction to Adapalene. But if the symptoms continue even after stopping Adapalene, then you should try taking antihistamine like Levocetrizine or Allegra and also apply steroid based cream like Betnovate GM over the neck for a week and not longer.
Do cool compresses over the skin. Keep it dry and do not let sweat accumulate and stay. Drink plenty of water. You can also once consult a skin specialist and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora,
Dentist
