What Does An Uncomfortable Pain In The Neck Indicate?

Hi. about 3 weeks ago I developed uncomfortable pain when I turn my head from side ti side, and there was pain down the sides of my neck right below my ears and down my neck. It hurt for a week or so but was getting steadily better. This morning I sneezed and the sneeze force focused in my neck and it hurt like crazy. I was able to eat scrambled eggs, but was happy they were soft, I also was able to swallow several pills which hurt, but only when I swallowed. I took an Ibuprophin and went to work. The pain is still there when I swallow, and it is still uncomfortable when I turn my head from side to side. It is allergy season and I have allergy symptoms even though I am taking allergy pills. Should I wait and see what happens?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
If you are elderly then your this problem might be due to pinching nerve pressure and some stiffness in neck muscles due to degenerative changes in your cervical vertebrae.
Go for x-ray cervical region for cervical spondilitis.
Physiotherapy and short way diathermy will be much helpful.
Take calcium and multivitamin supplements.
Ok and take care.
I find this answer helpful
