What is antral gastritis, my boyfriend had a upper endoscopy and a biopsie is being done. What would they be doing this for? They also done a lower colonoscopy, which all they found was hemorroids, which was great. I was just wondering why they would be doing a biopsie or is this normal?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Antral gastritis is inflammation in the lower part of the stomach called the antrum. When the antrum of the stomach becomes inflamed, the affected individual may experience indigestion, nausea and gas. Many people do not realize that they are affected by antral gastritis until the condition becomes more severe, In these cases it may cause nausea & even bleeding & thus producing black stools Treatment depends upon the cause of the problem.if a bacterial infection is causing the antral gastritis, the infection may be treated by the doctor with antibiotics to prevent the disease from recurring. Antacids may be prescribed, if bacteria no longer causes the inflammation. You should also avoid spicy & fried food.
Refer to a gastroenterologist Hope this information helps
