Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Asthenozoospermia is the medical term for reduced
sperm motility. Yoour report might indicate the normal sperm count and morphology, but sperm motility is one of the important determinant for fertility.
In case your sperms are immotile, then it would not reach the Fallopian tubes where it needs to come in contact with ovum for fertilization to take place.
Thus, it decreases the sperm quality and is therefore one of the major causes of infertility or reduced fertility in men.
A method to increase the chance of pregnancy is by an assisted technique called ICSI.
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is an
in vitro fertilization procedure in which a single sperm is injected directly into an egg. This process increases the likelihood of fertilization when there are abnormalities in the number, quality, or function of the sperm.
Following incubation, the fertilized egg can be transfered to the uterus by means of IVF (Invitro fertilization) procedure through
embryo transfer.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
