Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ran out of prescription refills (I was on auto-refill at Walgreens every month) and the pharmacy automatically contacted my doctor s office for authorization. Refills were authorized and I went to pick the prescription up today. When I got home, I noticed the bottle said there were 2+ refills authorized. At first I thought that meant only part of the prescription was filled, but I checked the bottle and all the medication was there. What does it mean when the doctor authorizes 2+ refills? Thank you.
* As per my clinical experience, usually the signs of various prescription guidelines do vary according to state wise laws.
However, as a routine practice, 2+ sign indicates 2 additional doses of the same drug for reserve quota in case one can not find way to fill the prescription sharply on time.
However, you can drop a message to your doc office for further clarification over this topic please.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
