I would like to obtain some more information. Why was the CT scan obtained in the first place? (for abdominal pain, for a history of tumors, etc?) Your doctor s statement that they were not pathologically concerning is also a bit unclear but perhaps he or she meant that they were not very large. I am not certain why a referral to a GI doctor was made without more information about your case. To answer your question, if there is overall lymph node enlargement in that region, the possible diagnoses include spread from a tumor elsewhere in the body to the lymph nodes, a problem, like tumor (lymphoma) in the nodes themselves, or infections in the regions drained by those nodes (bowel, pelvis, lower legs) is also a possibility.
