What Does Black Vaginal Discharge Suggest?

Black stuff coming out of my vagina. It s only on one side of my tampon. Instead of blood coming out for my menstrual cycle, it s been this brown/black discharge for at least 6 months. No discomfort, no odor, just this brown/black thick stuff. I don t want to ask my mom. Help lol

Hi,

The black / brown colored blood is usually harmless if you have no other symptoms. When the blood stays inside the uterus for slightly longer duration, the color of the blood alters from red to brownish black to break down of pigments. However, it could also mean underlying pelvic inflammatory disease, STD, bacterial over growth and possibility of endometriosis. I recommend you to get yourself examined by a physician to rule out above mentioned possibilities.
