Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
ok, thanks...I've been sick with pneumonia, bronchitis, and pan lobular emphysema for about 3-4 weeks. I've been treated for this illness by my Internist with antibiotics and cough syrup with codeine. Throughout the illness I've experienced very painful ear infection in both ears. My doctor examined my ears and found the left ear had wax with redness. The right ear was so plugged with wax she could not see down inside it. She prescribed daily treatment with an ear wash and/or ear oil drop to try to reduce the wax.
The ears have been painful and ringing very loudly at times. Today, my left ear, the one that was red inside, hurt and itched and felt like some fluid was coming out of it so I gently used a Q-tip to remove anything coming out. I was surprised to discover a small, but significant, amount of blood on the Q-tip. Is blood in my ear something to be concerned about?
Bleeding in ear in your case may be due to ruptured ear drum /tympanic membrane caused due to infection. You need to visit ENT surgeon to assess the situation. It may require conservative treatment With antibiotics for 7-10 days if the hole is small enough to heal by itself. You can take analgesics like acetaminophen or ibuprofen twice a day for 3-5 days for pain relief. Donot put anything or any drops in ears. Put a clean cotton plug in ear to protect anything from outside entering your ear. Keep the ear clean and dry.
Hope I answered your query. Wish you speedy recovery.
