Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In the morning I experience the signs of blood in my spit. My mouth seems dry and I get up and spit, not cough, and it is dark red/brownish in color. After rinsing my mouth I have no further problems the rest of the day. I brush daily, floss and rinse often with peroxide. Do you have an answer?
As per your complain it seems that blood in sputum and a dry mouth can be due to mouth breathing habit in which you breathe through mouth while sleeping and due to continuous drying of mouth there can be irritation of gums leading to gum bleeding.. Other cause can be acid reflux that commonly cause dark spit..
But it needs to be confirmed by consulting a Physician and a thorough Oral examination and if needed an Endoscopy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now if you have mouth breathing habit you can start sticking a vertical strip of micropore tape over the closed lips as it with enforce nasal breathing and can even reduce the blood in spit.. If still doesn't help get further investigation done..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
