What Does Blood In The Stool And Vomit Indicate?

I have been bleeding from my bowels , a lot of blood, for quite sometime now. Sunday I started vomiting blood as well. I vomited so hard I have actually hurt my sides and back and my stomach is very tender as well. Could this be serious? What do you think it could be? Or is it just the flu going around?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Your symptoms could be due to peptic ulcer, inflammatory bowel disease, raised portal hypertension, cirrhosis.
I would suggest to consult gastroenterologist and undergo examination, USG scan, endoscopy/colonoscopy, blood tests like LFT, stool calprotectin to confirm cause
Specific treatment depend on cause
So consult gastroenterologist as early as possible
Hope this may help you
Best regards
