What Does Blood In Urine From Urine Sample Test Indicate?

I just received a call from my doctor s office asking me to come in tomorrow to give another urine sample. The sample I gave during a regular check-up last week showed blood in the urine. What could be some possible causes? I m trying to not panic or get upset! Thank you. Marcia

Hello,

You are suffering from blood in the urine found in the sample you gave for test. Blood in the urine may be indictive of bladder infection like acute cystitis, vigorous exercise, UTI, bladder or kidney stones, kidney disease like glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis, cancer, etc. You are suggested not to panic, stay patient. You may have to go through some other tests and investigations to study details of the pathology causing you symptoms.

Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and the severity of the symptoms. If UTI, then it will be treated with oral medicines. Take care of your hygiene. In case of stones, bladder or kidney you may be suggested surgery along with conservative treatment. Take adequate amount of water and fluids. Stay well hydrated. Stay away from addictions if any, smoking, drugs, alcohol, etc. If diabetic, control your blood sugar level at all cost. Get treated at the earliest.
