What Does Brain Involution And Chronic White Matter Ischemia Mean?
My 73 year old husband has several medical problems including several mini strokes he was hospitalised after a significant one 4 years ago which resulted in a cleaning of his left carotid artery which was completely blocked. Since then his gait has widened and he swings his left leg. I m reading the latest report from the neurologist which states that after the latest CT scan there is an increase in brain involution change compared to previous CT scan and mild chronic white matter ischemic disease The neurologist believes he has Parkinsonism, saying the strokes are mimicking the symptoms of Parkinson s I m more worried about his brain in relation to dementia & think he ought to be treated for that. I live with him and its becoming more difficult to cope with his decision (or lack of) decision making, arguing and making bad decisions and his belief that there s nothing wrong with him. Can you help me with an explanation of the increase in brain involution and mild chronic (can t see how something can be mild and chronic together) white matter ischemic disease. Both GP & specialist are hard to understand when I ask them about my husbands condition. Too many maybe s and could be s for me and so many medications. I d be grateful for any help. Regards Lydia
