Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. So i have been having Light to dark brown discharge for about a week and a half now. It started at the beginning of my period which i thought was normal. But i never got my period, instead i got just this brown discharge. And it did not go away, i still have it now about 5 days after when my period would have ended. Took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. Any suggestions on what it might be would be great.
It is most likely due to hormonal imbalance. An ovarian cyst could be the culprit. If so, these functional cysts will usually go away in a couple of months. I recommend: -An ob-gyn consult as you are still spotting -Blood tests (beta hcg levels, thyroid function tests) -An ultrasound of the pelvis. These will give us a better idea as to what's happening. If you have severe abdominal pain, fever, heavy vaginal bleed, go to the emergency room right away.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
