What Does Brown Vaginal Spotting Indicate?

I am 45 years old and had a tubal done 18 years ago. I had my period on September 27th and it lasted a couple of days. Not heavy at all since then I ha e felt nauseated over certain smells and taste. My breast have been tender but then went away. But for the last couple of days I have had brown spotting nothing heavy just an annoyance really.(a week after my period) what is going on could I be pregnant?

The tubal ligation is permanent contraceptive method so there is no possibility of being pregnant.
The spoting is due to perimenopausal hormonal changes.
