What Does Bruising And Yellow Discoloration Around A Rope Burn Indicate?
I was tubing the other day and I fell off in front of the tube so I was dragged in between the rope and the tube for about 2 seconds. I think I got severe rope burn on my lower left belly, it s been 3 days now and I woke up today with a bulge along that line of rope burn, it doesn t bother me but the area is yellow and bruised?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
It can be subcutaneous capillaries giving way leading to blue, yellow, green discoloration of an intact skin. It would heal over time & needs ice bag application to hasten the process. Other possibility of buried & cut skin getting infected, inflamed with pus formation. Here there would be pain, fever along with other symptoms & needs antibiotic. Consult your family physician for actual local examination & decision.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
