What Does Burning Sensation In The Upper Abdomen Indicate?

I have a lot of burning in the upper part of my stomach it comes and goes it has got me in tears. I have had a endoscopy and a colonoscopy they found nothing but inflammation. I don t know what to take anymore. My family doctor told me it is scar tissue that is inflamed. Can nerves cause this problem, I am lost and in a lot of pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Abnormal nerve function; neuropathy can cause pain but does not usually cause a burning pain in the upper abdomen. However, everyone is different and it is possible. This is most commonly caused by gastritis or reflux but changes related to these conditions should have been seen on endoscopy. Medications for nerve related pain also treat chronic or persistent pain so you can try one of these to see if it would help.
Example: Gabapentin, Tegretol, Lyrica etc.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
