What Does Burning Sensation In The Vagina Indicate?

I have been experiencing a burning sensation when bathing in my vaginal area. Then yesterday I began to have some itching issues which is not normal for me. No discharge. I have not changed soaps or done anything different. I went and bought a one day yeast infection treatment (tioconazole ointment 6.5%) thinking it may be the beginning of a yeast infection and put it in at bedtime tonight. It is now itching, burning and hurting even worse than before.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Fungal infection most likely. Secondly, it can be an allergic condition (hypersensitivity). I would suggest trying Miconazole ointment with Betamethasone, three times in a day.

If the condition remains as it is, then it needs to be ruled out for hyperglycemia(diabetes). Oral treatment is not advisable unless it is the confirmed case of some other disease.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
