What Does Burning Sensation On The Feet Indicate?

I ve had a burning sensation on the tips of my 3 middle toes on both feet. It just started a few days ago. I ve had no unusual activity that I can think of, except for going to the gym for 20 minutes of cardio every other day. 67 year-old male in Buffalo, New York. I take no regular medications, although I was prescribed a thyroid booster a few years ago.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Burning feet can be due to diabetic neuropathy, vitamin B12 deficiency or chronic Hypothyroidism.

In my opinion, your symptoms are most probably due to hypothyroidism as you already mentioned of thyroid booster.

So, please check your thyroid hormonal level (T3, T4, and TSH) again. If it is again lower, then start thyroxin hormone as per endocrinologist advice.

If these reports are normal, then check for RBS, HBA1C and vitamin B12 level in the blood to rule out other 2 possible reasons for burning foot.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
