What Does Burning Sensation On The Right Side Of The Face Indicate?

I am having a terrific burning sensation on only the right side of my face. includes forehead , eye, & cheekbone. I had this same thing yesterday morning for a couple of hours. I have RA, as well as Reynauds. I had shingles on the other side of my face back in April. What might be causing this?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern As per your query burning sensation at the side of face are pointing towards a nerve dysfunction, due to inflammation of sinuses, tooth infection and could be trigeminal nerve dysfunction. So i would suggest you to consult neurosurgeon for proper examination and to find out exact cause. Doctor may prescribe anti epileptic drugs or recommend physical therapy of face. You should apply cold compresses on face. Take muscle relaxants like baclofen. Avoid over widening mouth. Take neurotrophic medication such as Neurontin.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
