What Does Burning Sensation On The Tip Of The Penis Indicate?

Hi: I am a sixty one year old man. Sometimes I feel light burning sensation inside my penis near the tip and it s happening for approximately for two years. I talked to my urolosit regarding this. It seems to me that my urologist is not concerened about this. I just want to make sure that nothing seriou is going on. Thanks. Sheikh M. shakil

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It could be due to possible urethritis. Get a urinalysis done. Urine for culture sensitivity testing can also be advised. Local examination can be done to look for any discharge or evidence of fungal infection. History of diabetes , unprotected intercourse/ unsafe sex and immune compromised states should also be taken.
