What Does Burning Sensation On The Toes Indicate?

HI. The last few weeks my toes are really hot. Today I also have a slightly odd taste in my mouth...maybe ever so slightly metallic. I am almost 52, weigh about 190, 5 11 . My normal weight is about 175. I had my 1st left knee surgery a year ago for meniscus repair, and my 4th right knee surgery last December. My knees are sore and my ankles too from time to time. I play softball twice a week, drinking 3-4 after each night with teammates. I never drink other than socially. Thoughts.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Burning sensation of toes is suggestive of neuropathy. Your previous surgeries seem to have no connection to it. I would like you to get your blood sugar tested. Simultaneously start on Methycobalamine tablets, they are neuro protective. A detailed work up is needed to look for the cause of neuropathy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
