What Does Cellulitis Of The Buttocks Mean?

I had a colonoscopy 3 days ago, and developed what the emergency room is calling cellulitis of the buttocks when I went in this morning with a small rash area which has little bumps on it on my left buttock. I am now taking Keflex and Bactrim for 10 days. Pretty sure it s staph as the Dr. pretty much ruled out shingles and herpes. Never had anything like this in my life, so wouldn t it be safe to assume it has something to do with the hospital visit/procedure?

Hi,

Cellulitis is bacterial infection of skin and underlying tissues. This is more common in diabetics. No need to worry. Proper antibiotic therapy and follow up with your doctor will help to overcome this. Antibiotics which you are taking - keflex and bactrim gives a good coverage for bacterial infections.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Nishad BN
