What Does Chronic Heartburn Indicate?
Hi my son (34) has been taking a lot of antacids, he says it feels like heartburn but I ve noticed him taking quite a bit of them from time to time for a while now and I am worried it might be or will end up being something serious, I have seen him once holding his stomach like he had a bad pain, he thought I wasn t looking and I asked him about it, he down played it and blew it off as just heartburn. I have tried to get him to go to the doctor or the hospital to get checked out but he hesitates to go. Can you tell me what potentially can be going on? Thanks

It is due to severe acid reflux.
As of now, you can try drugs like pantoprazole or sucralfate for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and plan for an endoscopy.
