What Does Clear Mucus Discharge From Rectum Indicate?

Hi... I have been experiencing clear mucous rectally for the last couple of weeks, day and night. What does this indicate? There was a pink tinge to it but since I temporarily stopped my Plavix, no color. I feel like I have to move my bowel (lower abd. pressure) much of the day. I take Miralax for constipation when needed...not needed during this time. Stool is sometimes passed with a great deal of gas and accompanying mucous. I have had Type 1 diabetes for 42 years and do have GERD, pretty well controlled with Omeprazole twice a day.

I am so sorry to hear about this clear mucus. The symptoms suggest and inflamation of the rectum which is called proctitis. This gives a false sensation of feeling to go empty the bowels associated with mucus discharge. The best thing to do is to get consulted preferably buy a general physician then a gastroenterologist if need be. depending on the precise cause, treatment measures would be proposed to you. You may need antibiotics, pain and anti inflammatory drugs.
