What Does Coma After Delivery Imply?

if a patient delivers a healthy baby, but shortly after delivery, the mother experiences sudden, profound respiratory difficulty with cyanosis. She goes into cardiovascular shock and begins to have clonic-tonic convulsions. She lapses into a coma but is surviving. What is her diagnosis?

Hi thanks for contacting HCM...

Without examination and taking full history regarding a previous cardiac status, blood pressure history , infection etc...conclusive diagnosis can't given...

If your blood pressure high during pregnancy and if not controlled than pre eclampsia like condition. (Pregnancy induce hypertension ) can lead such condition....

If bleeding more during delivery than hypotensive shock can be there ...
And due to loss of blood brain getting less oxygen and convulsion can be there ..

If before delivery you have pre existing any cardiac condition than also cardiogenic shock can lead such presentation...

Take care ....

Your treating gynecologist will now do necessary investigations like CBC , blood culture etc and life supportive measures done ..with vitals monitoring ...
