What Does Constant Pain In The Chest Indicate?

My son is almost 46, physically pretty fit since he was a professional athlete. For several months he has had a constant pain near his heart. There are no signs like tingling arms or similar symptoms which usually would heart attack. His Dr. did an ekg recently and everything appears normal. I am concerned and am wondering if the constant pain in his chest could possibly be something like a strained muscle. The Dr. he has gone to is not a Cardiologist, but is general practitioner.

Hello,

Chest pain divided into cardiac or noncardiac pain if cardiac pain is ruled out by electrocardiography (ECG), treadmill test (TMT), cardiac enzymes and angiogram. If it is noncardiac pain may be due to muscle spasm, herpes zoster, pleurisy, pneumonia, and skin infection. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
