Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having throbbing ear pain for the past 3 days... went to doc yesterday and she said no infection. Motrin helps but when it wears off it throbs and hurts terribly. It s not constant but stabbing like pains. It also seems to throb after I swallow. i have no pain in my mouth or throat. What can I do?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain throbbing pain in ear can occur due to a number of causes like ear infection, excessive ear wax accumulation, foreign body impaction in ear, perforated eardrum, jaw joint disorder, tooth infection etc.. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.. In case if there is excessive ear wax the physician can use wax softeners and remove the wax.. In case of infection antibiotics and painkillers along with ear drops will help.. In case of other causes investigation and treatment will be done accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
