What Does Dark Brown Mucus In Stool Indicate?

Hi! I ve been experiencing dark brown mucus in stool on and off for over two months now. Also have this poky feeling when defecating. Feels abnormal to me as this hasn t been the case before. Does that imply anything serious? P.S. Colonoscopy done 2 months before, but the results were normal.

Hi,

Is there any change in diet recently or any abdominal pain. Have you undergone stool for occult blood testing, if not please undergo it. Blackish stool usually indicates bleeding from gastrointestinal tract and can be confirmed by blood testing from the stool. If one is having such stool then upper GI endoscopy is required as usually such bleeding occurs from stomach.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sagar Makode
