What Does Delayed Periods When On Concerta Medication Suggest?
Hi there, I just started Concerta medication for some ADHD symptoms. My period is now 5 days late and it is always regular. Can Concerta change the frequency of my menstrual cycle? I am not on any birth control. My husband and I are monitoring my tempurature and obstaining from sex when I m ovulating 12 days. It is unlikely I m pregant.

Concerta is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Concerta is a stimulant which increases attention and decrease impulsiveness and hyperactivity in patients with ADHD. Concerta can cause you to skip or delay periods as this can cause an elevated prolactin level or an elevation in your thyroid function. Again, Concerta may cause loss of appetite or anorexia. Anorexia may cause weight loss. Reduction of body weight can cause delayed menstruation cycle, temporary cessation of menstrual cycle etc.
Even, naturally one or two menstrual periods may delay 7 days. It may happen without any specific reason. Do a pregnancy test 7-10 days after next missed period and consult your doctor. You can also undergo thyroid function tests, s. prolactin level etc., to assess your hormonal status and exclude the causes.
